The preliminary results of the Presidential elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan were announced

The Republican press center for elections’s coverage of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held a briefing on the preliminary results of the elections of the President on December 5, 2016.
Central Election Commission Chairman, M. Abdusalomov, stressed that the presidential elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan on 4 December have been openly and transparently, based on the requirements of the national electoral legislation and universally recognized democratic principles of international law.
The people of Uzbekistan, deeply aware of the historical and political significance of the Presidential elections, once again proved his involvement in the fate of motherland and citizenship, participated in the vote, showing high political activity, M. Abdusalomov said.
So, 17,951,000 667 people from 20 million 461 thousand 805 voters, which were included in the electoral list have voted. This represents 87.73 per cent of voters. Thus, in accordance with Article 35 of the Law “On elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan” presidential elections are considered valid.
As noted at the event, the processes of preparation for the Presidential elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and their conduct was monitored by around 600 observers from the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of OSCE, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the World Association of electoral bodies and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as 46 states.
In addition, more than 37 thousand representatives from the four political parties participated in the elections, also observed the voting and counting processes. All conditions were created by election commissions for their activities.
Election campaign widely reported by over 1 thousand 400 representatives of local and foreign media.
In the process of voting and its counting, appeals from voters, both political parties, international and foreign observers on the violation of election legislation were not received to the Central Election Commission.
Chairman of the Central Election Commission informed that yesterday after the end of voting, under the supervision of observers which participated in the elections, political parties, international and foreign observers, representatives of mass media began counting the votes for each candidate individually, this process is continued until the end without interruption.
According to preliminary results of the Presidential elections, for the candidate of the Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Milliy tiklanish” – Sarvar Sadullaevich Otamuratov voted 421,055 electors, or 2.35 percent of participating in the elections; for the candidate of the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen – Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan – Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev 15906724 votes or 88.61 percent of electors participated in the elections; for the candidate of the People's democratic party of Uzbekistan – Hatamzhon Ketmonov voted 669,187 electors, or 3.73 percent participated in the elections and for the candidate of the Social democratic party “Adolat” – Narimon Madzhitovich Umarov voted 619,972 or 3.46 percent of those who participated in the elections.
Report on the results of presidential elections of Uzbekistan will be published in the press of the Central Election Commission not later than ten days after the election, that is, until 14 December 2016.
