Foreign experience of the civil society development

From the first days of independence, Uzbekistan, choosing its own path of reform and modernization of the country, has set a goal to join the ranks of developed democratic states. The basis of large-scale democratic reforms was initiated the formation of a strong civil society, which protects the rights, interests and freedoms, favorable conditions for the realization of its potential as one of the principles of the "Uzbek model" of reforms designed by the Head of State.

In the framework of consistent implementation of the principle "From a strong state - to a strong civil society" and for the development of independent, sustainable institutions of civil society were created all necessary organizational, legal and material conditions.

On 19 April 2016, Independent Institute for Monitoring the Formation of Civil Society organized the round table - "Modern trends of civil society development in Germany" where was discussed issues of development of civil society institutions of modern democratic countries.

In the round table was attended by representatives of non-governmental organization Center for Corporate Citizenship Deutschland (CCCD), Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Central Asia, IIFCS and other NGOs.

During the round table the audience was informed about the activities of non-governmental organization Center for Corporate Citizenship Deutschland (CCCD), the peculiarities of social partnership in Germany, civic engagement, which aims to attract most public attention, the media, and government agencies to a variety of social problems.

Participants noted that in our country are carried out wide-ranging reforms aimed at increasing the role of citizens in social and political life, the further development of the whole system of civil society institutions and its harmonious integration in the governance process.

It was stressed that one of the key elements of Uzbekistan's development strategy in the medium and long term perspective is “The Concept of further deepening democraticreforms and formation of civil society” adopted in 2010 on the initiative of President Islam Karimov. Efforts to further strengthen the civil society in Uzbekistan demonstrate a commitment to the principles of democratic development.

During the event, director of CCCD Susanne Lang said about practical importance of exchange experience between Uzbekistan and Germany in the issues of civil society development.  She also noted the importance of the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan, which are aimed at strengthening the role of NGOs in the development and implementation of socio-economic development programs.

As a result the "round table" participants announced that the exchange of experience between Uzbekistan and Germany has a special significance, the event allowed to better understand the principles of formation and functioning of civil society in Germany.
