Results of training workshop on "methodology and criteria for assessment of civil society: domestic and foreign experience"

On December 9-10, 2015, the Independent Institute for Monitoring the Formation of Civil Society (IIMFCS) organized a training seminar on the theme: "The methodology and criteria for assessment of civil society: national and international experience." The event is organized in cooperation with OSCE in Uzbekistan.

The purpose of the seminar-training  was awareness-raising of the IIMFCS staff in such questions as methodology and criteria for assessing the development of civil society, promotion of the study, generalization and use of foreign experience in the sphere of formation of civil society in Uzbekistan, strengthening and development of its institutions.

The event was attended by specialists of the central office and regional offices of the IIMFCS.

During the meeting were discussed issues such as the methodological basis for assessment of civil society, the criteria for its development and methods of analysis. Participants discussed the trends and patterns of development of civil society in Uzbekistan. It also was shown a methodology for the study of civil society in our country on example of the annual report of the IIMFCS "Development of civil society in Uzbekistan".

Yuri Korgunyuk - a leading researcher at the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences, head of the department of political science at the regional Public Foundation "Information Science for Democracy" also participated in a seminar as a foreign expert.

In his speech he focused on foreign, especially Russian experience of studying civil society, the formation of its institutions, development trends at the present time.

Participants discussed the existing problems and developed proposals and recommendations for their resolution at the end of the training seminar.
