Treatment of citizens, as a factor of increasing the legal awareness and legal culture of the population
IIMFCS conducted a study on the topic: "Treatment of citizens as a factor of increasing legal awareness and legal culture of the population."
The study was conducted on a large scale and covered all regions of the country. In the survey took part 4,237 respondents from among officials, NGOs representatives, civil society and population institutions. Taking into account all common requirements needed to ensure the representativeness and accuracy, the survey results helped clarify mentions of the respondents to the institution of citizens' tratments, its potential impact on legal awareness and legal culture of the population.
Terms of the survey allowed respondents to identify their level of awareness about the institute of citizens' tratments as a factor of the effective fight against the various negative phenomena, including corruption.
In context of the institute of citizens treatments, sociological survey provided an opportunity to identify trends that increase legal awareness and legal culture of the population, the circumstances that hinder the achievement of greater efficiency in the studied area as well.
Sociological survey has showed that 86% representatives of the justice organs, 50% - of the judiciary, 45% - of the prosecution, 42% - of the Internal Affairs expressed confidence that the treatments of citizens may be cause of increasing legal awareness and legal culture of the population. Answers of the respondents representing non-governmental organizations illustrate that work with citizens treatments allow fully realize the rights and legitimate interests of citizens and solve all existing problems. The effectiveness of work with citizens' tretments largely depend on the level of legal awareness and legal culture of the population, which is confirmed by the answers of respondents representatives of the Advocate’s Chamber (67%), the Chamber of Commerce (65%) and the Federation of Trade Unions (59%).
These findings shed light on some substantive problem in state bodies and public organizations work on the consideration of citizens' appeals.
The study contains not only the results of the survey, but also recommendations that are formulated according to the opinions, views and suggestions of the respondents concerning the further improvement of the institute of citizens’ treatment.
